Rita N. Jungk, for­merly of Chadds Ford

Rita N. Jungk (nee Nuz­zolese), age 87, passed away on Wed­nes­day, Oct. 12, 2016 at Maris Grove Rose Court.

Rita was born and raised in Elmhurst, NY, and worked as a sec­re­tary in Man­hat­tan and, af­ter her mar­riage, at Pur­due Univer­sity. She grad­u­ated from Spald­ing Col­lege, Louisville, KY with hon­ors. An avid par­tic­i­pant in civic af­fairs, Rita was part of the Louisville, KY chap­ter of the Wel­come Wagon; a long time mem­ber of the Chadds Ford His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety, act­ing as a vol­un­teer tour guide at the John Chadd House and rais­ing money at Chadds Ford Days; a mem­ber of the Chadds Ford Area Women’s Club; Troop Leader of a girl scout troop; a mem­ber of the League of Women Vot­ers and work­ing as a vol­un­teer at the elec­tion polls. In later years, she was the head of both the Wel­com­ing and Com­mu­ni­ca­tion com­mit­tees for the Riviera at Con­cord com­mu­nity. Her fa­vorite po­si­tion in life, how­ever, was that of lov­ing and dot­ing mother and grand­mother.

She is sur­vived by her lov­ing hus­band of 65 years, Hans Jungk; her chil­dren, Dr. Anne Ap­ple, Dr. Steven Jungk, Robert Jungk, and Bar­bara Mishell; her grand­chil­dren, Caitlin Mishell, Laura Mishell, and Claire Jungk; her sib­lings, Pauline Sta­iano, He­len Miller, John Nuz­zolese, Ralph Nuz­zolese, Joe Nuz­zolese, and Richard Nuz­zolese.

Vis­i­ta­tion will be held Mon­day evening, Oct. 17 from 7-9 pm at Nolan-Fi­dale Fu­neral Home, Ltd., 5980 Chich­ester Ave., As­ton, PA. Fu­neral Mass will be Tues­day morn­ing, Oct. 18 at 10:30 am at St. Thomas the Apos­tle Church, 430 Val­ley­brook Rd., Glen Mills, PA. In­ter­ment Pri­vate.
