- Staff Report

LOWER OXFORD >> One person was shot in a robbery-assault incident at Lincoln University on Sunday at about 3 a.m., police said.

According to a police report issued by the state police Avondale barracks, troopers were requested to assist Lincoln University police with a robbery and shooting that reportedly occurred on the north side of the campus.

Approximately six or seven suspects described

as black men in their earlyto mid-20s, reportedly approached two victims (both 22-year-old men), brandished a handgun and forcibly removed jewelry from the victims.

The victims attempted to fight off the suspects and

ended up striking several of the men with a vehicle, police said.

The suspects then allegedly fired between three and four rounds from a handgun or handguns at the victims, according to police. The victims’ vehicle was struck by the gunfire, police said.

A van passing in the other direction was also struck by the gunfire, and another victim — a 20-yearold woman — was struck in the right arm, according to police.

The female victim who was shot was transported to Christiana Hospital for treatment, and the wound was considered non-lifethreatening. The victim was a member of an outside security team hired for extra help during the university’s homecoming.

Lincoln University police requested that state police at the Avondale barracks handle the investigation.

State police are asking for anyone with information about the incident to call 610-268-2022.
