Conestoga hockey caps perfect league slate

The Conestoga field hockey team finished off a perfect run through the Central League with an 8-0 win over Lower Merion Tuesday.

Conestoga clinched its fourth consecutiv­e undefeated Central League field hockey championsh­ip with an 8-0 thrashing of Lower Merion on Tuesday.

Charlotte de Vries led the way with four goals and Charlotte Ross added a hat trick. Sophie Grove added a goal.

Madison Rogalski and Emma McGillis had assists.

The Pioneers moved to 11-0 in the league and 16-1 overall.

OXfORD 2, KENNETT 1, OT » Rachel Hannum scored her second goal of the game in overtime to lift the Hornets (5-7) to the Ches-Mont American victory. Marycate London and Sarah Johnson recorded assists.

Vicky Friere scored for the Blue Demons (3-7). Kennett 1 0 0-1 Oxford 1 0 1-2 Kennett goal: Friere . Oxford goals: Hannum 2. Goalie saves: Borman (K) 6; Bartos (O) 5.

Volleyball

DOWNINGTOW­N EAST 3, COATESVILL­E 0 » Christine Layden had four aces and two digs as the Cougars (11-2, 16-5) won the Ches-Mont National match, 25-16, 25-18, 2518. Morgan Tucker added six kills and three blocks, Jill Curran had nine kills and one block and Clarie Long had seven kills and two digs.

DOWNINGTOW­N WEST 3, WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 2 » Sophie Gelling had 19 kills and four blocks to help the Whippets (10-2) to the, 2514, 25-23, 15-25, 25-27, 15- 12, Ches-Mont victory. The loss gives the American Division title to Great Valley.

Gina Schetroma had 42 digs for West, Alex Kenny added 10 digs and 10 service points. Lexi Baldwin recorded 22 assists, seven digs and two aces, Kenzie Pincura had 10 kills, 12 digs and three aces, Aly Reardon collected nine kills and Chloe O’Donnell had 29 assists.

For the Golden Knights (8-5, 13-7), Amanda Fichter had 20 digs and two aces, Lauren Hayes had 20 digs and Emily Supplee added eight kills, 17 digs and two aces. Kaia Johnson had six kills and 10 blocks, Alessia Mattera, 11 kills and 17 digs and Morgan Bitzberger notched 15 assists and four blocks.

OXfORD 3, KENNETT 0 » Logan Wolfe had six kills and 11 digs, while Julianna Huggard had five kills and five blocks to lead the Hornets (1-12) notched the Ches-Mont American victory, 25-11, 25-13, 25-20. Nicole Scott added four aces and Madeline Williams had 10 assists.

Anna Nolan and Bailey Santiguida recorded a three-set win at first doubles to key the win.

College Field Hockey

WEST CHESTER 5, MANSfIELD 0 » Dayle Paustian and Rachal Toppi each scored a pair of goals to lead 10th-ranked West Chester to a PSAC victory. West Chester (9-6, 5-2 PSAC) remains in a tie for third-place with Millersvil­le, in the PSAC Standings. The Golden Rams controlled much of the match, holding a 28-1 advantage in shots with 22 of those 28 attempts on goal. Mansfield goalkeeper Laura Lawson made 17 saves in the cage for the Mountainee­rs.
