Don­ald Ed­ward Weaver of West Ch­ester

Don­ald Ed­ward Weaver, 92, died Tues­day, Oc­to­ber 18, 2016, at Ex­ton Se­nior Liv­ing.

For 65 years he was the hus­band of Haze­lyn ‘Lyn’ Myer Weaver, who passed away in 2012.

Born in 1924, he was the son of H. Ralph and Grace Hick­man Weaver of West Ch­ester.

He was pre­ceded in death by his brother, H. Wil­liam Weaver and is sur­vived by his sis­ter, Catherine Weaver Wit of Ar­ling­ton Heights, Illi­nois.

He en­listed in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1943 and trained pi­lots dur­ing WWII. In 1950 he was grad­u­ated from Drexel Univer­sity with a de­gree in me­chan­i­cal en­gi­neer­ing and was hired by DuPont as a spe­cialty en­gi­neer un­til his re­tire­ment in 1985.

He and his wife were mem­bers of First Pres­by­te­rian Church of West Ch­ester for nearly 50 years. He served the church as an el­der, a trus­tee and a long­time mem­ber of the chan­cel choir.

For many years he was a mem­ber of the Forty Nin­ers Cho­rus of West Ch­ester and their Bar­ber­shop Quar­tet. He and Lyn were ac­tive in square danc­ing groups, du­pli­cate bridge clubs and West Ch­ester Golf & Coun­try Club. They both vol­un­teered at the Ch­ester County Hospi­tal for many years.

He is also sur­vived by his three chil­dren, Donna Weaver Mountz and her hus­band, Dou­glas of Elver­son, Lester “Skip” Weaver and wife, Kim of Glen­moore, and Pamela Weaver Ring and her hus­band, Spencer of West Ch­ester. There are 10 grand­chil­dren and 13 great grand­chil­dren.

A me­mo­rial ser­vice will be held at 11 a.m. on Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 22, 2016, at First Pres­by­te­rian Church, 130 W. Miner Street, West Ch­ester, PA 19382, where friends may call from 10 a.m. un­til the time of ser­vice.

In­ter­ment will be pri­vate in Birm­ing­ham-Lafayette Ceme­tery.

In lieu of flow­ers, me­mo­rial con­tri­bu­tions may be sent to the First Pres­by­te­rian Church Me­mo­rial Fund at the above ad­dress.
