George Richardson Faulkner of West Chester
George Richardson Faulkner died on October 18, 2016 at age 91. He was a resident of West Chester for about 30 years, and prior to that lived in Paoli, PA since 1961.
He is survived by his three children, George Jr. of Yardley, PA, Douglas of Lansdale, PA, and Carol (Wood) of Champaign, IL. His wife of 51 years, Anne Sundstrom Faulkner, died in 1997. He had six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
George Faulkner was born and raised in the West Hartford, CT area. During WWII he served in the 8th Air Force as a B-17 bombardier, completing 34 missions.
After the war, he attended Trinity College and then joined Connecticut General Insurance Company in Hartford (now CIGNA). Later his family moved to the Philadelphia suburbs to work for Johnson & Higgins and then Towers Perrin (now Towers Watson) as a pension consultant, from where he retired as a vice-president at the end of 1985. After retirement, he volunteered at Paoli Memorial Hospital and for the Hershey’s Mill “car sharers” service.
Mr. Faulkner was an avid golfer and member of Chester Valley Golf Club for 20 years, followed by membership in the Hershey’s Mill Golf Club for 18 years, including 2 years as its president.
By the request of the family, the services and interment will be private.
