William T. Ia­cone (Bill), for­merly of Ch­ester County

William T. Ia­cone (Bill), 73, of Port Char­lotte, Fla. died peace­fully Septem­ber 23, 2016 at home with his fam­ily by his side, after a long bout of can­cer.

Bill was born and raised in Wayne, Pa. He and his wife, Gina, resided in Philadel­phia sub­urbs un­til July 2002, when they re­lo­cated to Florida. He was a grad­u­ate of Rad­nor High School. He grad­u­ated in 1961 and was co-cap­tain of the foot­ball team and Vice Pres­i­dent of his class. He went on to West Ch­ester Univer­sity (WCU) class of ’65. He earned two Mas­ters De­grees from Vil­lanova in May of 1970 and in Septem­ber of 1976. His de­grees were in Ed­u­ca­tion Ad­min­is­tra­tion. He re­tired from Oc­torara School Dis­trict in June of 2002.

Bill served the com­mu­nity in many ways. He was a cri­sis coun­selor for Pro­ject Hope to help hur­ri­cane vic­tims after Hur­ri­cane Char­lie in 2004. He was a vol­un­teer with CERT (Com­mu­nity Emer­gency Re­sponse Team) and the Red Cross. He was Pres­i­dent of his Neigh­bor­hood Com­mu­nity As­so­ci­a­tion. He was ac­tive with the com­mu­nity of the St. Max­imil­lian Kolbe Catholic Church where he was a team mem­ber with the Men’s Em­maus Re­treat Team. He also served the Dio­cese of Venice as a mem­ber of their Review Board.

He was the de­voted hus­band of Gina Ia­cone (Sabol) and lov­ing fa­ther to his 2 sons: Matt (Vanessa) Ia­cone of West Ch­ester, Pa. and Drew (Ch­eryl) Ia­cone of Alamo, Cal­i­for­nia: six grand­chil­dren: Ryan, Faith, Ella, and Sophia of West Ch­ester and Maren and Blakely of Alamo, Cal­i­for­nia. Sur­vived also by his brother, Joe (Ginny) Ia­cone of Wayne, Pa. and cousins, nieces and neph­ews that he dearly loved. He was pre­ceded in death by his par­ents, An­gelo and Elizabeth (Gi­ambrone) Ia­cone, brother An­gelo and sis­ter Jean­nie Aquilante.

A Cel­e­bra­tion of Life Mass and Re­cep­tion will be held in his mem­ory at St. Max­imil­lian Kolbe Church, 15 E. Pleas­ant Grove Rd., West Ch­ester, Pa. 19382 on Novem­ber 26, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. with re­cep­tion to fol­low.
