Gold medalist to speak at township building

Heather Mitts, an Olympic gold medal winning soccer player, will speak at an event called “Next Up.”

As part of the township’s ongoing “Building Bridges” program, high-schoolaged girls and women will have the opportunit­y to listen to several women, including a threetime Olympic gold medalist, talk about leadership and success.

Starting at 7 p.m. at the township building, three speakers will talk about the challenges they had to overcome in their careers.

This particular program, called “Next Up,” is meant to inspire younger women to become the next up-and-coming leaders in their respective communitie­s.

Their Keynote speaker, Heather Mitts, is a three-time Olympic gold medal winning soccer player and will address attendees near the end of the event.

Jason Lang, the creator of the “Next Up” program and the director of recreation for the township said 75 people have already registered for the event, and there are only about 15 spots left, and that anyone interested in attending should email him at jlang@eastgoshen.org.

In addition to Mitts, Montana Leaks, president of West Chester University’s Student Government Associatio­n and West Chester Mayor Carolyn Comitta will also speak.
