Police: Man threatens victim over monetary dispute

An Upper Darby man was charged with assault and terroristi­c threat-related charges after he allegedly drew a handgun during a dispute about money.

Police said they received a call at about 4 p.m., Nov. 4 from a third party for a disturbanc­e on Tabas Lane. When officers arrived, they detained Everton Reid, 36, of Upper Darby, and took a loaded nine millimeter Smith and Wesson from him.

According to police, Reid allegedly drew the handgun and threatened the victim while holding the firearm during a dispute over money.

Police said Reid alleged the victim did not adequately complete a constructi­on job on time and wanted his money back.

George Beebe, 52, of Downingtow­n, was charged with DUI on Nov. 4. Officers received a report of someone sleeping in a running vehicle for more than an hour. Police said Beebe was found slumped forward in a vehicle, and that officers had difficulty waking him.

After police did to wake him, he allegedly failed sobriety tests and was subsequent­ly arrested for DUI.

Leo McKenna, 50, of Philadelph­ia, was charged with theft by unlawful taking on Nov. 2 after state police had recovered a stolen vehicle in Philadelph­ia. According to police, the charges stem from the theft of a 2017 Ford Expedition from Sloan Ford on Oct. 6.

West Whiteland police said they were contacted by the state police, who told them they recovered the stolen vehicle and arrested the alleged operator, McKenna. West Whiteland detectives traveled to Philadelph­ia, where McKenna allegedly admitted his involvemen­t.

Police said McKenna was returned to Chester County and remanded to the Chester County Prison after his arraignmen­t.

Joseph Bilder, 22, of Lancaster, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug parapherna­lia. Police said a patrol officer stopped Bilder for speeding on the Route 30 bypass on Oct. 29.

According to police, the officer saw drug parapherna­lia in the vehicle, and after receiving a search warrant, found suspected narcotics and marijuana.

Sundiswe Ndlovu, 34, of West Chester, was charged with retail theft after officers responded to the Boscov’s store for an alleged $146 theft on Nov. 2.

Sheila West, 40, of Coatesvill­e, was charged with retail theft and receiving stolen property after officers responded to the Boscov’s store for an alleged $70 theft on Nov. 2.

Meagan Harty, 39, of Harrisburg, was charged with DUI and possession of a controlled substance on Oct. 30. Police said charges were filed after an officer responded to a two-vehicle crash on South Pottstown Pike at Bartlett Avenue.

There, police asked Harty to perform sobriety tests, which police said she failed and was subsequent­ly arrested. Police said they recovered suspected narcotics from Harty’s person during the arrest.
