Richard Allen Ruth, 79, went home to be with the Lord on Sat­ur­day, Novem­ber 19, 2016, sur­rounded by his fam­ily at Neigh­bor­hood Hos­pice of West Ch­ester.

He was the beloved hus­band of Sara A. (Miller) Ruth, with whom he shared 56 years of mar­riage.

Born in At­glen, Richard was the son of the late Roberta L. (States) and Joseph C. Ruth. He was a grad­u­ate of S. Ho­race Scott High School, Coatesville. Richard served hon­or­ably in the US Air Force. He was a mem­ber of the Parkes­burg Sports­men’s Club, Axe Grinders Club and the Ma­sonic Lodge.

Richard was a proud mem­ber of Mt. Zion AME Church, serv­ing as Vice Chair of the Trustee Board, Church Trea­surer, Men’s Choir and on the Trans­porta­tion Com­mit­tee.

He worked for Al­legheny Lud­lum Steel, Co., was an In­de­pen­dent Trucker, worked for Sell­ers Truck­ing of Unionville and re­tired from Earth Grow Corp in Toughke­n­a­mon, Pa.

He is sur­vived, in ad­di­tion to his wife, by his daugh­ter and sonin-law, Dawn and Ed­win Hall of Hamp­ton, Va.; two grand­daugh­ters, Myah S. Cooper of Philadel­phia, Pa., and Cire’ L. WestCooper of Hamp­ton, Va; one great grand­daugh­ter, Cierra M. John­son of Philadel­phia, Pa; one sis­ter, Gwen­dolyn M. Dickinson of Coatesville, Pa.; one spe­cial cousin/”brother”, Melvin “June” States of Mat­ta­pan, Mass; along with a host of nieces, neph­ews, cousins and friends.

The Funeral Ser­vice will be held on Fri­day, Novem­ber 25, 2016 at 11 AM at Mt. Zion AME Church, 404 Zion Hill Rd, At­glen, PA 19310, fol­lowed by in­ter­ment in Church of Christ Ceme­tery of East Fal­low­field. The view­ing will be from 9 un­til 11 AM.
