Doris T. Matusan of Coatesville

1923-2016

Doris T. Matusan, 92, died on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Brandywine Hospital.

Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late William and Anna Belle Pfitzenmeyer Thomas. Doris was the wife of the late Michael R. Matusan who died in 1973.

She was a member of St. Joseph Church and the former St. Cecilia Church, Coatesville.

She was a graduate of S. Horace Scott Senior High School and Coatesville Hospital School of Nursing and trained with the Cadet Corps.

Doris’ life was fulfilled by her nursing career, marrying the love of her life, her children and granddaughter, and her religion and faith in God.

She was a member of the West End Fire Company Auxiliary where she served meals.

She was a nurse at the Coatesville Hospital, Coatesville VA Medical Center and for several local physicians.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Simmers and her husband Doug of Christiana; one granddaughter Heather (nee Salmons) Newswanger and her husband John of Downingtown; and one sister Geraldine Cazzillo.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Lynn Marie in 1983 and a brother, William Thomas.

Doris’ Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, November 25, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Church, 400 Charles Street, Coatesville with visitation beginning at 10:00 am.

Interment will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery, Coatesville.
