Holiday Craft Show fundraiser at Freedom Village Brandywine

-

COATESVILLE >> Open to the public, Freedom Village at Brandywine will host a Holiday Craft Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, in their auditorium. All proceeds will benefit LaMancha Animal Rescue.

The auditorium will be filled with tables of handmade and handcrafted items made by volunteers of nearby LaMancha Animal Rescue, which partners with Freedom Village to bring their resident dogs into several units at the retirement community.

Included in the offerings are handknit and crocheted items, horseshoe metal art (wine racks, Christmas décor, boot racks to name a few), handstitched blankets, dog and cat items, all sorts of holiday decor, handmade jewelry, tote bags, gift baskets, custom made tapestry accent pillows, birdfeeders, etc. Over 60 items made by many different artisans will be available at suggested donation amounts. There will also be a bake sale table full of home baked goodies to kick up your energy level while you are shopping.

LaMancha began a pet therapy partnership with Freedom Village Retirement Community in March 2015. At their request, LaMancha established a program to bring resident dogs into the dementia unit twice weekly. The program quickly became an overwhelming success as the dogs generally visit several units in their community, including Memory Care, which has approximately 20 residents, the Skilled and Rehab Units, which have approximately 35 residents and Assisted Living, where they usually visit around 15 residents. The numbers can be higher or lower depending on the day. Freedom Village management reports “Not only do the residents LOVE the dogs visiting, but the families love to see these programs in place, as well.” Event Details For more information, the media can contact the event organizer direct at lamanchahandmade@gmail.com.
