Gifted PAC holds 30th Annual Craft Fair
There was something special for everyone at the West Chester Area School District’s (WCASD) Gifted Parent Advisory Committee’s (PAC) Craft Fair held on Saturday, November 5.
Organized annually each November for the past 30 years, the event is coordinated by volunteer Gifted PAC members and Gifted Resource Teachers and is held at East High School.
Seventy vendors participated in this year’s fair, offering a variety of items for sale that included original works of art, quilts, indoor and outdoor décor, homemade food items, jewelry, toys, holiday items, gifts for pets, and more. Themed raffle baskets were prepared by every school in the district and donated to the event. In addition, a number of vendors donated items to be raffled, and baked goods and other refreshments were available to attendees.
The Craft Fair is the Gifted PAC’s only fundraiser held during the school year. Funds are generated through the sale of vendor spaces, raffles, refreshment sales, and bake sales. Proceeds from the Craft Fair are used to fund numerous gifted programs and initiatives across the District in the form of grants and scholarships.
“The community is critical to the success of the craft fair, and we are very thankful for such a great turnout,” said Shyam Nair, a parent and co-President of the Gifted PAC. “Many attendees come to this event every year and buy items from our vendors and bid on the assortment of raffle baskets. The proceeds from this event greatly help the gifted program, which is a non-funded mandate in the state of Pennsylvania. It’s heartwarming to know that our local community supports the program and our students, teachers, and parents.”
