Police arrested two people from Delaware who tossed stolen clothing out of a car window after a hit and run.

According to police, Kerryn Vinson, 26, of Wilmington, and Steven Black, 28, of Wilmington, were both charged with retail theft, receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, and motor vehicle violations.

Police said they responded to the scene of a crash in the area of Pottstown Pike near the Fairfield Shopping Center. There, they said they found a heavily damaged vehicle blocking the roadway and that one of the people inside the vehicle, a woman seven months pregnant, needed to be examined by medical personnel.

While police were investigating the crash, they said they received information that a vehicle matching the description of the one that left the scene was driving on Newcomen Road, and that clothing had been tossed out of the window.

Police said they had been approached by a witness, a loss-prevention manager, who told them that he saw a man run out of a TJ Maxx carrying two large bags, the same ones the officers later recovered, and found them to have $918 in stolen clothing.

After alerting nearby police stations, Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police stopped a vehicle matching the description of the one that fled the scene, and police said there was a man in the vehicle matching the description of the one who ran out of the TJ Maxx store carrying bags.

Police said Vinson had complained of injuries from the crash, and was taken to Paoli Hospital.

Both Vinson and Black have a preliminary hearing set before Magisterial District Judge John Bailey at 9 a.m. Feb. 6.
