Police arrested a Honey Brook man following a high-speed police chase on Compass Road and Horseshoe Pike.

Timothy Taylor Thomas, 22, of Honey Brook, allegedly fled from state police after an officer tried to pull him over for a “non-functional headlight,” at about 1:30 a.m. Dec. 21, according to the affidavit of probable cause.

This is the second high speed chase in the Honey Brook area this month. On Dec. 1, state police also chased a motorcyclist down Horseshoe Pike.

State police troopers Keith Herbert and Patrick Lilly were traveling south on Route 10 when they noticed Thomas driving north.

Herbert was driving, and attempted to pull Thomas over. But when he attempted to do so, Taylor allegedly took off and according to the affidavit, led state police on a high speed chase and at least one time exceeded 100 miles per hour.

Throughout the chase, Taylor allegedly drove on both sides of the road, ran stop signs, ran a red light, and passed two other cars unlawfully, the affidavit states.

Twice, Herbert used a PIT maneuver - a maneuver where police use their car to force their target to stop. The first was in a farmer’s field and was not successful. The second was in the parking lot of The Golf Zone at 1839 Horseshoe Pike in West Brandywine.

After the second PIT maneuver, the affidavit states Taylor got out of his vehicle and gave himself up without incident.

Taylor was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Nancy Gill at 9:55 a.m. and was remanded to the Chester County Prison after failing to post $15,000 cash bail, according to online court documents.

He has a preliminary hearing set before Magisterial District Judge Michael Cabry III at 9 a.m. Jan 5.

Police also reportedly found drug paraphernalia in the car as well, including a hypodermic needle and a metal spoon, and that there was a passenger in his car as well. A 23-year-old Honey Brook woman was reportedly crying and screaming in the passenger seat of the car, and was subsequently helped by state troopers.
