Sara Oswald, Soph., Westtown

Out went one high-scoring forward (Emily Sands), in stepped another. Oswald tied Sands’ school record with 26 goals last season to go along with seven assists. The sophomore’s scoring proficency was a large reason Westtown captured its first PAISAA championship.

MIDFIELDERS Sophia Detweiler, Sr., Unionville

One of the top clutch players in the area. Four of her 10 goals were game-winners, to go along with her nine assists. The senior was the Ches-Mont American Division MVP and an all-state selection. Detweiler will attend Emerson University in the fall.

Kaliee Coonan, Sr., West Chester Henderson

The senior makes a repeat appearance on the All-Area first team as the engine for the Ches-Mont National co-champs. The prolific goal scorer was an all-state and All-Ches-Mont National first-team selection. Her play-making and scoring abilities have placed her among the top players in the area.

GOALKEEPER Morgan O’Loughlin, Downingtown West

Backstopped the Whippets to a co-Ches-Mont National title. A strong positional goalie, she was a first-team All-Ches-Mont selection. “Morgan sets the tone in goal,” Downingtown West coach Mary Schanne said during the districts. “She keeps everything organized in the backfield that allowed us to keep our shape, play through the midfield which sprung our attackers that led to scoring opportunities.”

COACHES OF THE YEAR Paul Lehman and Kevin Eppler, Westtown

The Moose completed a historic season with the school’s first PAISAA crown. They survived a loss in the Friends School League semifinal before getting on a roll. Led by scoring sensation Sara Oswald and and goalie Natalie Neumann, the Moose were strong at both ends of the field as a 10-1margin in the state tournament attests to. “We learned how to win, how to play to win,” Lehmann said. “We were playing not to lose in the second half of the Shipley game. We let the moment of a big game overwhelm us, but it was the best thing that could have happened to us . ... A young team could decide to pack it in after a loss like that. “Instead, they really came together.”
