The Twin Valley Community Education Foundation (TVCEF) presented the 2016 Community Leadership Awards to the following individuals: Jon Malsnee, Esq., Pamela Shupp, Jena Mable, AJ Blosenski Trash and Recycling Services, Tiffany Witman, and Kelly Loughery. These winners were recognized at TVCEF’s 15th Annual Gala Nov. 11. The Annual Gala also featured a benefit auction which supports TVCEF’s annual grant and scholarship programs.
The gala was sponsored by Hershey Motors, Tel Hai Retirement Community, Eshelman Transportation, Greater Reading Economic Partnership, Morview Garage in Morgantown, Krapf Bus Companies, and Jon S. Malsnee, Esquire, P.C.
Every year at this event, TVCEF honors those who have made a difference in the community. The Community Leadership Awards are given for Lifetime Achievement, TVSD Alumnus, Community Educator, Community Volunteer, Community Business, and Rising Star (for ages 16-21). All winners were nominated by community members and chosen by a TVCEF committee.
Jon Malsnee, Esq., was awarded the 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award. Malsnee has been an excellent solicitor for the Twin Valley School District for over 36 years. He has been a steady leader during times of uncertainty and unfamiliarity and portrays confidence with a positive demeanor.
The Twin Valley Alumnus Award was given to Pamela Shupp. Shupp has excelled in promoting growth in Berks County through her leadership with the Greater Reading Economic Partnership where she serves as the president and CEO.
Tiffany Witman, winner of the Community Educator award, is an English teacher at Twin Valley High School who also serves as the advisor to both the Student Council and the senior class. In both of these roles, she has exceeded expectations and brought new life and energy.
Jena Mable was recognized for the Community Volunteer Award. Mable embodies the traits of being a great leader and coach over the past many years in leading and supporting Twin Valley’s Youth Field Hockey program and Twin Valley school district teams.
The Community Business Award was given to AJ Blosenski Trash and Recycling Services. They have been a valuable resource to Twin Valley’s community and intern students.
The Rising Star Award was given to Kelly Loughery, senior at Twin Valley High School. Loughery has been a member of Student Council her junior and senior years and also serves as the class treasurer.
This year TVCEF also held a special “Fund A Need” auction at the Annual Gala to support the LINK program at Twin Valley High School. LINK (Leaders Involved in Networking Kids) provides students the opportunity to participate in a leadership weekend that enhances their ability to positively influence behaviors and attitudes, so they can independently face decision making with greater confidence.
TVCEF is a non-profit organization providing support to Twin Valley schools, students, and the community in Berks and Chester counties.
