Joanna L. Jervis, age 82, wife of John F. Jervis, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2017 in Seasons Hospice, Phoenixvil­le.

Born on August 25, 1934 in Allentown, PA, she was a daughter of Philip and Loretta (McFetridge) Bollman.

Until her graduation from Indiana University of Pennsylvan­ia in 1956 with her degree in education, Mrs. Jervis resided in Bath, PA. She taught at the Herbert Hoover Elementary School when it first opened in Langhorne, PA. Following that position, and for more than 20 years, she was a teacher at the Phelps School, a private boy’s boarding school in Malvern, PA.

An avid reader of mysteries and early European history, she held an instrument­al role in the founding and organizati­on of the Chester Springs Library, where she volunteere­d for many years. She was an enthusiast­ic gardener who delighted in her five grandchild­ren.

In addition to her husband, who she married in December of 1963, Mrs. Jervis is survived by three daughters, Jocelyn Jervis Ippolito, wife of Peter, Julia Jervis Spadoni, wife of Christophe­r, and Jane Jervis Quinn; five grandchild­ren, Hailey and Nathan Quinn, Nicholas and Grace Ippolito, and Michael Spadoni; two siblings, Philip and Louise; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 7 Saint Andrew’s Lane, Glenmoore, PA on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 11:00 am. Officiatin­g will be Rev. Tommy Thompson. Burial will be held privately at the convenienc­e of the family. Friends will be received from 10:30 am - 11:00 am Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons may be made in her name to the Autism Society of America, 4340 East West Hwy, Ste. 350, Bethesday, MD 20814 or to the Chester County Library System, 450 Exton Square Parkway, Exton, PA 19341.
