Coatesvill­e storms past W.C. East for win

Coatesvill­e won the last five bouts Wednesday night to beat West Chester East in a Ches-Mont wrestling match.

Coatesvill­e won the final five matches to rally for a 42-27 Ches-Mont League National Division wrestling match Wednesday. Nathan Gathercole started the comeback with a decision at 132 pounds. Stefon Tracey and Ryan Dellicompa­gni followed with decisions.

Chase Stephens and Don Meyer put the exclamatio­n point on the bout with pins for the Red Raiders (1-1, 3-2).

The Vikings fell to 1-1 in the National and 2-1 overall.

OXFORD 46, KENNETT 26 >>

The Hornets (3-0, 10-3) won six of the last seven matches to come away with the ChesMont American victory. Caleb Spadaro and Will Johnson earned pins.

Logan Reigel notched a pin for the Blue Demons (0-2). Gerhard Reiter and Drew Masetti recorded major decisions.

WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 50,

OCTORARA 30 >> The Golden Knights (2-0) won the maxium points in all but two bouts in the Ches-Mont American victory. Among those getting pins were Varday Jacobs (106), Brett Kaliner (132) and Tyler Kaliner (138).

Seth Hoopes and Liam Babauta recorded back-toback pins for the Braves (12).

GREAT VALLEY 36, SUN VALLEY 33 >> The Patriots controlled the middle of the match and held on to win the Ches-Mont American contest. Ryan Cananaugh, Casey Capetola and Ryan Greiser recorded pins.

AVON GROVE 105, DOWNINGTOW­N WEST 75 >> Olivia Paoletti was a triple winner in the Ches-Mont National win for the Red Devils (5-0, 3-0).

Boys Swimming

AVON GROVE 103, DOWNINGTOW­N WEST 78 >> Matt Magorry won four events as the Red Devils (1-2, 3-2) rolled to the Ches-Mont National victory. Magorry was part of two relays and captured the 40 free and the 100 back. Collin Slupe was also a four-event winner.

Girls Basketball

COLLEGIUM CHARTER 61, PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 28 >> Lacy Maclaughli­n scored 17 points to lead the Cougars (4-0, 8-1) to the Tri-County victory. Kiana Brown added 13 points and Aymana Revnell chipped in 10.

College Women’s Basketball

LINCOLN 55, ST. AUGUSTINE’S 29 >>Amanda Okodugha led the Lions with 12 points as they snapped a six-game losing streak with the CIAA win. The Lions improve to 4-11 overall and 2-4 in the conference. Monique Cheek added 10 points. She’cquan Bailey grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds to go along with her eight points and a team-high four assists. The Lions took control early, leading for all but 25 seconds in the first quarter. Cheek scored the first four points of the game and the Falcons followed with the next six. Cheek and Okodugha added back-to-back baskets starting an 11-2 run by the Lions to close out the quarter, leading 15-8.

NEUMANN 53, IMMACULATA 36>> Tamyra Laws had 14 pointes and 10 rebounds as the Mighty Macs (2-11, 2-3) fell in the CSAC contest. Theresa Walsh led the Mighty Macs on the glass with 13 rebounds to go along with five points and three blocked shots. Amber Ballinger added six points and two steals, while Gina Cocci dished out a team-leading three assists.

SHIPPENSBU­RG 82, WEST CHESTER 48 >> In a battle for sole possession of first place in the PSAC East, Shippensbu­rg came out on top. West Chester (5-9, 5-5 PSAC) struggled from the floor tonight, resulting in a total of 48 points. Head coach Kiera Wooden’s team shot 38.9 percent (21-54) from the field and only a 6.7 percentage (1-15) from behind the arc. The last time the Golden Rams did not reach 50 points in a contest occurred at Indiana University of Pennsylvan­ia in a 61-42 loss during the 201112 season. Madison Torresin led the Golden Rams with a team-high 14 points, eight rebounds, and a pair of steals. Porscha Speller added eight points and five rebounds.

Men’s Basketball

LINCOLN 70, ST. AUGUSTINE’S 67>> Four players scored in double figures as Lincoln rallied from a second-half deficit to defeat St. Augustine’s. The Lions improve to 4-11 overall and 3-3 in the CIAA. Joshua Davis led all scorers with 20 points. Sean James added 15 points while Khayyir Laws chipped in 14 with a team-high three assists. Lincoln trailed by as many as 14 points in the second half before the team rallied to pull out the win, their second in three straight road games.

NEUMANN 92, IMMACULATA 79>> Roy Ferrell Jr. led four Mighty Mac (6-8, 4-3 CSAC) players scoring in double figures in the CSAC defeat. Ferrell Jr. had a game-high 24 points to go along with five rebounds. Ferrell Jr. was 5-for-8 from beyond the arc. Jordan Ambrose poured in 19 points, including a 4-for-7 effort from three-point, and had four rebounds and two assists. Eric Pittman Jr. added 18 points, three rebounds and three assists, while Mike Piekarski finished with 11 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals. Morgan Bailey also grabbed five rebounds to lead the team alongside Ferrell Jr. and Piekarski.
