Coatesville girls take over first in Ches-Mont
Dee Dee Irwin poured in 21 points as Coatesville took over first place in the ChesMont League National Division girls basketball standings with a 54-49 victory over West Chester Henderson on Thursday.
The loss was the first in the National for the Warriors, and dropped them into a second-place tie at 4-1. The Red Raiders moved to 5-1 in the division and 10-3 overall.
Amaya Douglas added 14 points and Sarah Huston 10 for Coatesville.
Maddie DePrisco poured in five 3-pointers to lead Henderson with 18 points. Abby Shea chipped in with 14 points and Emma Bertrando had 10.
Henderson had a 28-23 halftime lead, but was outscored, 31-21, in the second half.
Michaela Hampton led Octorara (0-4) with six points.
Abby Walheim scored 19 points and Paige Lauder added 14 points as the Hurricanes (5-1, 8-4) collected the AACA victory. Marissa Picinich pulled down 10 rebounds.
The Pioneers built up a 28-10 halftime lead en route to the Central League victory. Liz Scott had 10 points, while Katie Mayock and Sarah Mascioli added six points each.
Zaire Toliver-Harrison scored eight points as the Cougars (2-2, 4-9) fell in the TriCounty contest. and Scottie Miller added 13 in the Ches-Mont American win.
Brian Dorsey tossed in 24 points for the Hornets (3-2).
