-

Claus “Mark” Mettenheimer, age 57, of Kennett Square, PA, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at Seasons Palliative Care, in Newark, DE.

Mark, the eldest son of the late Claus Baer and Evelyn Dill Mettenheimer, was born in Augusta, GA. He attended Kennett High School and West Chester University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications. He was a Property Management Manager at D’Antonio Investments.

His life was made beautiful by helping those in need. Mark drove the homeless to eat meals and tirelessly collected donations to feed and clothe children. He helped anyone, anytime, anywhere.

His family and friends were everything to him. He brought laughter and fun to any gathering he attended. He loved being together at the beach or watching football games on Sundays. Having no children of his own, God blessed Mark with seven loving nephews. He called them “my boys” and they were the light of his life. Mark expressed his love by encouraging them, spending time with them and traveling to watch their football games as they advanced year after year. Mark is survived by his brothers, Michael and his wife, Leslie Chandler, of Potomac Falls, VA, Miles and his wife, Joanne, of Landenberg, PA, and nephews, Noah, Matthew, Jacob, Ryan, Alex, and Cole Mettenheimer, and Drew Chandler.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to those who offered prayers, support, and love in our time of profound grief.

A celebration of Mark’s life will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017, 10 a.m. at Willowdale Chapel, 675 Unionville Rd., Kennett Square, PA, where friends may call after 9 a.m. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kennett Area Community Service, 136 W.
