Angeline (Bompadre) Tavani of Chalfont

Angeline Therese (Bompadre) Tavani was born in Philadelphia in 1918. She was the daughter of Biaggio Bompadre and Maria Graziella (Di Pietro) Bompadre, who were born in Fara San Martino and Ripatone, Italy, respectively.

She died on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017 after a short illness at St. Mary Manor in Lansdale, Pa. She was 98.

Angie lived most of her life in West Chester. She attended St. Agnes School and High School. She worked nearly 40 years at the Denny-Rayburn Company in West Chester where she did manual tag-stringing and related work.

Angie was a member of St. Agnes Parish for many years, a member of the Italian Social Club and a charter member of the ItalianAmerican Junior Club. She was very much a family person and enjoyed nothing more than hosting her children and grandchildren when she was younger and, more recently, visiting them. She also had a robust circle of friends in her younger days who were avid fans of stage musicals, enthusiastic participants in a summertime canasta club, and frequent attendees at family and friendly gatherings.

Angie and her late husband, Nicholas, lived on South New Street in West Chester. They earned the gratitude of many of the neighbors some years ago when they led a movement to prevent the county from leveling their entire block to make way for a parking facility.

Angie and Nick were married for 62 years. He died in 2001. She was also preceded in death by her brother William, her sister Philomena and her son, Nicholas, Jr.

She is survived by her son, William, and his wife, Kathleen; her daughter-inlaw Roseanne Tavani; her grandchildren, Matthew (Heidi), Andrew (Kathleen), David (Lori), Mark (Andrea), Michael (Cristina), and Elizabeth (Jaime); and her great-grandchildren Hannah, Dominic, Samuel, Luke, John Paul, Mason, Angelina, Nina, Alexander, Ava, Matilda, Benjamin, Genevieve, Jonah and Ruth.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects at a visitation on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. at St. Agnes Church, 233 W. Gay St., West Chester, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m.

Interment will be in St Agnes Cemetery West Chester, PA
