Drug arrest made in Downingtown
DOWNINGTOWN >> Several traffic stops and foot patrol led to arrests when police discovered several people were in possession of illegal drugs.
Downingtown police said Brian J. Schneider, 47, of Lyndell, was stopped for a traffic violation in the 200 block of West Uwchlan Avenue in East Caln at 9:51 p.m. on Jan. 23. Police said Schneider reportedly turned left during a red light. During the traffic stop, police said they found that Schneider was driving without a license, reportedly in possession of marijuana and had a criminal bench warrant out of Chester County. Schneider was turned over to Constables, at which time he was advised he will also be charged with drug and traffic violations.
Drug charges
Downingtown police said Shannon Maurice Bradley, 34, of Downingtown, was observed walking in the area of Johnsontown Park and the Downingtown Train Station at 11:25 p.m. on Jan. 25. Officers on patrol in the area recognized him as having an outstanding bench warrant. Upon approaching Bradley, police said there was reportedly a strong odor of marijuana, and he swayed side to side. He almost fell over, according to the police report. Bradley was taken into custody for drug charges and turned over to Constables.
Downingtown police said Adam Aaron Castle, 18, and a male juvenile, 17, both of Coatesville, were located by officers in Kerr Park at 51 East Pennsylvania Avenue at 10:40 p.m. on Jan. 21. Kerr Park is closed between the hours of dusk and dawn. During the interaction, officers said they observed drugs on the picnic table the two were seated at. Both Castle and the juvenile were arrested on drug charges.
DUI
Downingtown police conducted a traffic stop at 3:25 a.m. on Jan. 22 in the 300 block of West Lancaster Avenue for several traffic violations. Police said they made contact with driver Ariel Harold Leon-Ramirez, 27, of Downingtown, who reportedly spoke with a slowed, slurred speech, had glassy, bloodshot eyes and allegedly had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. Police said LeonRamirez failed his field sobriety test and he was placed under arrest on charges of driving under the influence.
Warrant
Downingtown police said Jairalberto DelaneyFanning, 23, of Glenmoore, was in the area of the 200 block of Manor Avenue after midnight on Jan. 26, when an officer spoke with him during a traffic incident. During this contact, police confirmed that Delaney-Fanning had an outstanding bench warrant. He was taken into custody and turned over to Constables.
Downingtown police said Jesus Adrian SanchezLopez, 24, of Wilmington, Delaware, was identified via Live Scan following an incident that took place in the unit block of Brandywine Avenue just after midnight on Jan. 22. It was discovered he had an active warrant out of Philadelphia, according to the report. Sanchez-Lopez was turned over to the Philadelphia Fugitive Unit.
Traffic warrants
Downingtown police said Jaime Smith, 33, of Coatesville, was stopped in the 100 block of East Lancaster Avenue after 3 p.m. on Jan. 26 for speeding within a school zone. It was learned that there were three outstanding traffic warrants out of Downingtown District court on Smith. Judge Jeff Valocchi requested Smith be brought directly to his court. Smith was escorted to District Court. After completion with the judge, she was transported back to her vehicle.
Theft
U.S. Environmental at 409 Boot Road in East Caln reported on Jan. 19 that 50 gallons of diesel fuel was taken from one of the trucks parked in their parking lot the previous night. The approximate value for the fuel is $225.
Criminal mischief
Two vehicles parked in the 400 block of Norwood Road had their tires flattened by some type of cutting tool, sometime between 1 and 8 a.m. on Jan. 19, according to the police report. Replacement values of tires for one vehicle is $600 and for the other $400. A dead squirrel was also found inside the mailbox.
Criminal mischief
Police said a female juvenile, 17, of Paoli, was “upset” with her friend for texting her boyfriend when they pulled into a parking lot of 300 Norwood House Road at 8:15 p.m. on Jan. 20. The juvenile grabbed her friend’s purse and threw the contents into the dumpster, reportedly damaging the items. Police cited the juvenile for criminal mischief.
Assault
Downingtown police said a 22-year-old male was charged with simple assault following an incident with his father in their home. The son was unhappy with his father for running the vacuum cleaner while he was playing a video game at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 17 and began punching his father. Bail was set at $5,000. He is not allowed to return to the home, according to the report.
