Gene Marino of Malvern

Gene Marino, age 70 of Malvern (& Avalon, NJ) passed away on February 8, 2017 and is survived by his wife of 48 years, Constance (nee Santa Maria) and his children who gave him great joy; David Marino and Michelle Nyquist (Carl Jordan) and granddaugh­ter Heidi Nyquist.

Gene was a graduate of Plymouth Whitemarsh High School, class of 1964, Pennsylvan­ia State University, class of 1968 where he graduated with a B.S. in Organic Chemistry, and Villanova University, class of 1975 where he graduated with a M.S. in Organic Chemistry. Gene played first trumpet in the Penn State Blue Band and Alumni Band and was a brother of Alpha Chi Sigma Fraternity.

Gene had a long career with Wyeth Pharmaceut­icals (1969 - 2005) where he held many positions including; Project Manager for Site and Technical Services, Manager of Policies and Procedures, Manager of Projects and Processes, Manager of Parental Manufactur­ing, Validation Project Manager, and Process Management Chemist. Most recently, Gene had been working with Lachman Consulting since 2006 until the present.

Gene’s profession­al and civic involvemen­t was extensive. Profession­ally, he was a member of American Chemical Society, Chem Pharma, Parental Drug Associatio­n, Chemical Heritage Foundation, Project Management Professona­l with Project Management Institute, and Project Manager with the Delaware Valley Chapter of ISPE.

He was also a member and past president of the Paoli-Malvern Jaycees, Recording Secretary for the Knights of Columbus, Honorary member of the Italian Navy-Giovanni Caboto. As an avid golfer, Gene was also a member of the West Chester Wyeth Golf League, Wyeth/ Pfizer Golf Leagues for 46 years and a member of the USGA.

Relatives and friends are invited to share in Gene’s funeral mass on Wednesday, February 15th at 11 AM at St. Patrick Church, 104 Channing Avenue, Malvern PA 19355. A viewing will be held in church from 10:0010:45 AM. Interment is private. Memorial contributi­ons may be made in Gene’s name to Knights of Columbus, c/o St. Patrick Church, 126 Woodland Avenue, Malvern, PA 19355.
