Collegium advances in TCL playoffs

Collegium Charter had 11 players scored as they rolled to a 70-33 victory over Renaissanc­e Academy in the boys basketball quarterfin­als Monday.

The Cougars (8-16) will face Phelps today in the semifinals.

Kyjuan Cannady led the way with 13 points, Zaire Toliver-Harrison added 10 and Peter Graham chipped in nine.

College Men’s Indoor Track

CIAA INDOOR CHAMPIONSH­IP >> A second-place finish by Rhashawn Jenkins-Powell in the high jump competitio­n highlighte­d the Lions’ performanc­e. The Lions finished in seventh place amongst the seven men’s teams competing with 25.5 points. Jenkins-Powell cleared the bar at 6-4 on his first attempt en route to his second-place finish and became the Lions’ only male athlete to earn All-CIAA honors at the meet.

Lincoln finished fifth in the 4x400 relay. The team consisted of Anthony Watkins, Michael Brown, Rashad Robinson and Marcus Kinard. Solomon Potter was also fifth in the shot put with a toss of 41-7 ¾. Daniel Williams placed sixth in the 60-meters with a season-best time of 22.45.

Women’s Indoor Track

CIAA INDOOR CHAMPIONSH­IP >> The Lions finshed fifth with 22 points at the CIAA championsh­ip. The women’s distance medley relay team of Genae Butler, Adia Berkel, Arianna Polk and Joelle Polk placed third to earn All-CIAA honors. Butler, Berkel and the Polk sisters also combined to form Lincoln’s 4 x 400 meter relay team that placed fifth with a season-best time of 4:05.41.
