Edwin C. Howell of West Chester
Edwin “Ned” C. Howell (affectionately called “Hype”) of West Chester and long-time resident of Malvern passed away on 2/11/17 at age 93.
Ned was the husband of the late Jane M. Howell whom he shared 47 years of marriage. He and Jane raised three sons Steve (Lydia), Dave (Miki), Jim (Denise).
Ned was a salesman/ manufacturer’s representative for his entire working career until he and Jane relocated to Stroudsburg, PA in 1985 when Ned became director of sales for Filtration Engineering in Portland, PA. After Jane’s passing in 2000, Ned moved to Hershey’s Mill in Malvern, where he belonged to the golf club. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed surf and trout fishing his entire life, and played golf in his retirement until he was 90.
He served as a Navy fighter pilot in WWII and the Korean War.
He will be remembered for his sense of humor, storytelling, and unique personality. Ned’s positive spirit and friendly demeanor touched everyone that had the privilege of knowing him. He survived by his sons, six grandchildren (Andy, Katie, Stacey, Stephanie, Chris and Jamie) and two great-grandchildren (Kiersten, Kierra).

A memorial service celebrating Ned’s life will be held on at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church of West Chester, 130 W Miner St, West Chester, PA 19382 with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m.
