Jean L. Horshock (nee Poole), 89, peacefully passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at her daughter’s home surrounded by her family.

Jean Lorraine was the daughter of the late Jesse J. Poole and Edna Mae Poole (nee Barnes). She was born on November 10, 1927 in Goshen Heights. She was a 1945 graduate of Coatesvill­e Scott High School. After high school she attended Peirce Business College in Philadelph­ia. After finishing at Peirce, Jean worked for Luria Brothers in Modena. After getting married and having children, she worked as a bank teller for 24 years with the last place of employment at Fidelity Bank in Thorndale. For many years, she was involved with supporting charities such as Feed The Children and Children’s Internatio­nal. Over the course of her life, she was a member of the Presbyteri­an Church in Modena, Coatesvill­e and Downingtow­n.

Jean was the beloved wife of the late Edward J. Horshock with whom she shared 61 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2008. She is survived by her devoted loving daughters, Linda Jean (wife of Dennis Maurer) and Susan Lorraine (wife of Charles Lindsay). She is also survived by her two loving granddaugh­ters, Lori Jean (wife of George Vassil) and Lisa Michelle (wife of Matthew Konchel). She has four great grandchild­ren who adored her, Shaun Edward and Peter Louis Vassil and Matthew Brandon and Kaitlyn Michelle Konchel. Besides her parents and husband, she was predecease­d by her sister, Lois E. Hoffman (nee Poole) in 1990.

Jean’s interests included loving animals (esp. her cat T.T.), reading, vacationin­g at the shore, spending summers at her pool, and hosting family gatherings at her house for holidays, birthdays and picnics. Known to her family as “Our Beloved Boppie”, she was a very loving and caring mother, grandmothe­r and great grandmothe­r. Her passion was her family.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017 at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtow­n, PA 19335, 610-269-6567. Viewing and visitation will be from 10AM to 11AM, followed by a service from 11:15AM to 12PM. Interment will be private.
