Florence M. Alvord of Honey Brook

Florence M. Alvord, 88, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017 at Heatherwoo­d Retirement Community in Honey Brook.

She was the wife of the late Robert T. Alvord, who passed away in 1972.

Born in Shamokin, Pennsylvan­ia, she was the daughter of the late Jacob J. and Katheryn Maciejewsk­i Rebilas.

Florence was a parishione­r of St. Peter Church in West Brandywine. She was also a lifetime member of The Ladies Auxiliary of the Paoli VFW and also served as the President. In her free time, Florence loved to garden and had a true green thumb.

She is survived by her six children, Virginia Fennimore (Maurice), William F. Alvord, Thomas Alvord, James R. Alvord (Deborah), Janice J. Duffy (Charles), Bryan Alvord (Dawn) and daughter- in- law, Christine Alvord. She is also survived by one brother, Richard Rebilas, 16 grandchild­ren and 17 great-grandchild­ren with one on the way.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her two sons, Robert T. Alvord Jr. and Kenneth P. Alvord and 12 brothers and sisters.

A Mass of Christin Burial will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, February 24th at St Peter Church, 2835 Manor Rd., West Brandywine, where family and friends may call from 10:45 a.m. until 11:45a.m. Interment will be at Philadelph­ia Memorial Park, Frazer.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons in her name may be made to St. Peter Parish Hall Constructi­on, 2835 Manor Rd., West Brandywine, PA 19320 or VFW Post 106, 837 Lincoln Ave, West Chester, PA 19380.
