Frances Majors, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday March 6, 2017 at The Neighborho­od Hospice Center in West Chester, PA surrounded by her family. Frances was born on January 10, 1929, in Shenandoah, Virginia; she came to West Chester, PA at the age of 8 years old. Frances attended the West Chester Area School district graduating from West Chester High School in 1947.

Frances was a hard worker and had many jobs throughout her lifetime. She did domestic house cleaning for many years. She also worked for Human Services as a case worker and Strawbridg­e and Clothier for a short time. Her greatest compassion was working at the Kinder Care Learning Center in the infant room, where she loved the children and the children loved her until she retired in 1994.

Frances was a loving mother and person. She enjoyed cooking and baking and was known for making the best potato salad and lemon squares. She loved watching the Food Network and was always creating new recipes. She enjoyed watching the Philadelph­ia Eagles, ice skating, and reading books.

In her active years, she was a member of Mount Carmel Church of God and Christ where she helped with the Home and Foreign Mission and Kitchen Committee.

She is survived by her children, Michael Majors, Robert Majors, Corlisa Richardson, Terri Majors, Jennifer Rivas all of West Chester, PA, Delia Rivas of Coatesvill­e, PA, Marsha Irons and Angela Ashe of Wilmington, DE, Lettie Thomas of Downingtow­n, PA, and Neil Majors of Lancaster, PA; a ton of grandchild­ren and great grandchild­ren; four nieces, and a host of cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her son, Gregory T. Majors, one brother Amos D. Majors, and her mother Lettie Majors.

A special “thank you” to everyone who loved and cared for our mother.

A viewing will be held from 1-2:30 PM, Sunday, March 12, 2017 at DeBaptiste Funeral Homes, Inc., 25 S. Worthingto­n St., West Chester, PA.
