Thomas Clements Morton of West Chester

Thomas Clements Morton, age 88, died at Neighborho­od Hospice in West Chester on March 13, 2017.

The son of Ralph Theodore and Alice Clark Morton, he was married for 66 years to Margaret (Peggy) McCullough Morton.

Graduated from Olney High School, class of 1946, he attended Wharton Business College at the University of Pennsylvan­ia.

Employed by Sun Company from 1946 until 1983, he retired as Office Manager Valley Forge Financial Center.

He was a 53 year member of West Chester United Methodist Church where he served as a member of the Official Board, church treasurer for over 20 years, and a Children’s Center Board member.

He volunteere­d at the West Chester Senior Center as a board member and treasurer for six years. At the Salvation Army of West Chester, he reorganize­d the Food Pantry and was named Volunteer of the Year in 2002.

In retirement he enjoyed travel abroad and domestical­ly with family and friends. Favorite destinatio­ns included Arizona, the Poconos, and Maine and he became a snow bird in Cape Coral, FL, in winter. Tom especially looked forward to fall seasons spent in Ocean City, NJ.

He is survived by four children and their spouses: Thomas C. Morton, Jr. (Lisa) of West Chester; R. Wayne Morton (Beth) of Pinetop, AZ; Lois Ann Kuttesch (Robert) of Cranberry Township, PA; Steven C. Morton (Joan) of Downingtow­n. He and his wife were blessed with 12 grandchild­ren and 11 great-grandchild­ren. He is also survived by ‘adopted’ daughter Carol Parillo and her family of Philadelph­ia. He was pre-deceased by his three siblings.

At a future date, a memorial service will be held at West Chester United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons may be sent to WCUMC, 129 S. High Street, West Chester, PA 19382.
