David L. Standeven of Downingtow­n

David L. Standeven, 70, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the Chester County Hospital.

Born in Philadelph­ia, PA, he was the son of the late Merlin and Irene Bezold Standeven.

David graduated from Roxborough High School, received a B.S. in Physics from Drexel University and went on to Cleveland State University to earn his Masters in Electrical Engineerin­g.

Since 1990, David worked as an electromag­netic compatibil­ity consultant for the Navy on the Electric Drive Program, the VIRGINIA Class Submarine Program, the OHIO Replacemen­t Class Submarine Program and the Ford Class Carrier Program. He set up the EMC Test Laboratory at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Philadelph­ia. For the past 11 years, he worked for AMSEC LLC as a senior engineer, providing EMI/EMC expertise, testing support and training to the Navy and Newport News Shipbuildi­ng Company.

David was an avid golfer and valued tenor in several choirs throughout his life. He enjoyed videograph­y and arranging music for his daughter’s roller skating career.

He is survived by his three children, Christophe­r L., Adam C., and Ashley Moore. Also survived by his former wife, Carol Whitesel Standeven, and their five grandchild­ren.

In addition to his parents, he was also predecease­d by his son, Matthew and brother, Roger.

A funeral service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, March 22nd at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtow­n, where family and friends may call from 9:30 to 10:45 am.

Interment in West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd.
