Walter C. Brun, age 90, died on March 17, 2017 at Rose Court in Maris Grove. Born and raised in Philadelph­ia, he resided for the past 10 years in Glen Mills and previously was longtime resident of Kennett Square, PA.

Walter was a superinten­dent and carpenter for 45 years retiring in 1991 and was also a musician for 75 years. He served in the Army during WWII. Walter was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and a former member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Mother where he was the “Clerk of the Works” on the building committee, overseeing the constructi­on of the new church. He was a member of the Italian American Citizens League (IACL), was very involved with Troop 53 Boy Scouts of America, coached for many years for the Teeners and Babe Ruth League in Kennett Sq., a founding member of the Kennett HS Music Parents Associatio­n, and the Kennett Area Senior Center and a former member of the VFW and American Legion in Kennett Sq.. He had multiple interest in various clubs at Maris Grove including the Maris Grove choir. At age 13, he made his first dollar as a musician. He played over the years in Philadelph­ia clubs and was a member of the Army 1st Cavalry Division band during WWll. He took up his passion for music again in the 1960’s, and for the next 40 plus years played in big bands and combos, with both his peers and high school students.

Walter is preceded in death by his parents, Peter F. and Genoveffa Primus Brun, wife, Isabella Rita Perrone Brun who died on February 9, 2017, daughter in law, Lisa Brun who died in 2000, and is survived by 4 sons, Stephen (Terry) Brun, Michael (Debbie) Brun, Thomas Brun and Jeffrey (Robin) Brun, a brother, Peter Brun and also 9 grandchild­ren and 11 great grandchild­ren.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 24th, 9:45-10:45AM at St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Mother, 8910 Gap Newport Pike, Avondale, PA followed by Funeral Mass at 11AM. Interment is private.

In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to Willow Tree Hospice, 616 E. Cypress St., Kennett Sq., PA 19348.
