WILLISTOWN >> Six cars collided, sending eight people to the hospital in a crash on West Chester Pike at Dutton Mill Road at the start of rush hour about 4:20 p.m. Tuesday.

Goshen Deputy Fire Chief Gerry DiNunzio said the patients were taken to Paoli Trauma Center, however, none of the injuries were life-threatening. A number of other motorists stopped to help the injured.

First responding Goshen crews arrived to find patients lying on the road and on the lawn near the wrecked cars, many of which had heavy front-end damage. An ambulance task force was requested to handle all the injuries. Deputy Chief DiNunzio said crew performed well triaging the patients, treating and transporting the most serious injured first.

The cars from the accident were spread across a block of the road. The eastbound lanes of West Chester Pike were blocked by the crash. The westbound lanes were blocked by

rescue equipment. Tire marks from one car could be seen across a lawn.

“This is crazy, it’s a bad intersection,” said area resident Larry O’Shea, who walked out from his home after hearing the crash. “People are doing 55 and you’re trying to get out from Dutton Mill Road. They’re here at least two to three times a year.”

Goshen Fire Company was assisted by Newtown Square Fire company as well as ambulances and paramedics from Good Fellowship, Malvern, East Whiteland, Marple and Riddle Hospital.

West Chester Pike was closed until 5:40 p.m. as tow trucks removed the four damaged cars and two pick-up trucks.

Williston police are investigating the cause of the crash.
