COATESVILLE >> Police are investigating a shooting that injured two people on Tuesday night, police said on Wednesday. It is the third incident this week involving shots fired in the city.
Coatesville police were dispatched at 9:25 p.m. Tuesday to the 600 block of Belmont Street for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, police found one victim with a gunshot wound in the buttocks, according to the police report. They were transported to Paoli Hospital for treatment, and they are in stable condition, according to police.
Police said they learned that another person, who suffered
from a gunshot wound to the abdomen, was driven to Brandywine Hospital in a personal vehicle. They are also in stable condition, according to police.
During the investigation, police discovered a shooting scene inside a home in 600 block of Belmont Street, according to the police report.
No other details were available on Wednesday.
There was another incident involving a gun on Sunday night and a shooting on Monday morning in the city.
Coatesville police said that during a separate incident on Sunday night in the 700 block of East Lincoln Highway at Pennsylvania Avenue, two people engaged in a confrontation with Aaron Humphrey, who then reportedly pulled out a firearm
and allegedly pointed it at one of the victims. Police said that Humphrey then allegedly hit one of the victims in the side of his head with the gun. At that time, the gun discharged and the bullet hit an occupied car that was parked in a nearby lot. No occupant of the car was injured.
After that, Humphrey got into his green sedan, believed to be a Buick, and then reportedly hit the other victim with the front of his
car when he left the scene, according to police. Humphrey, 33, of Coatesville, is wanted for aggravated assault and related charges.
Coatesville police received a report at 11:05 a.m. Monday of a person inside a residence in the 600 block of Coates Street at suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. Police said Keyshaun Butcher, 18, of Coatesville, was transported to Brandywine Hospital where he was treated
and released. With a search warrant for Butcher’s house, detectives said they found a 9mm Smith and Wesson handgun with obliterated serial numbers. Police said that because Butcher is a convicted felon who cannot legally possess a gun, he was arrested for it.
Police ask that anyone with information regarding the incidents, or the whereabouts of Humphrey, call the Coatesville Police Department at 610-384-2300
