Bike Chester County to host public meeting March 23

WEST WHITELAND >> Bike Chester County, a local bicycle advocacy group in Chester County, is hosting a public meeting this Thursday at the West Whiteland Township Building from 6-8 p.m. to inform the public about bicycle and pedestrian projects happening in the county.

Bike Chester County decided to host this public meeting to raise awareness for the work being done in Chester County for cyclists and pedestrians, and to also educate the public with the planning process for implementing this type of infrastructure.

“There is a lot of planning that goes on behind the scenes to create a trail or install a bike lane, but unfortunately most people are unaware of it,” said Amanda Lozinak, Chair of Bike Chester County. “Our goal with this meeting is to unveil those processes and update the public on the bicycle and pedestrian projects in Chester County.”

Representatives from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC), and the Chester County Planning Commission are all scheduled to speak at Thursday evening’s event.

PennDOT and DVRPC will discuss the pilot program to implement bike lanes onto Chester County roads and will speak about DVRPC’s low-stress bicycle mapping program. The Chester County Planning Commission will discuss trail projects in the pipeline for the county.
