Mary Louise (Bircher Aikins) Johnson, formerly of Newtown Square
Mary Louise (Bircher Aikins) Johnson, age 80, of Mountville, formerly of Seven Valleys and Newtown Square PA, passed away on March 21, 2017 at York Hospital with her family by her side. She was the loving wife of Leonard E. Johnson Sr., with whom she enjoyed over 15 years of marriage. She was also married to the late W. Curtis Aikins for over 40 years.
Mary was born in Philadelphia on January 26, 1937 and was the daughter of the late George A. and Alice L. (Ogram) Bircher. She graduated from Tredyffrin/ Easttown High School class of 1954. She worked for the Spring Grove School District in the 1960’s and subsequently in the Jackson Twp. and N. Codorus Twp. municipal offices as a secretary until she retired. She was a member of Susquehanna Grace Community Church in Wrightsville. She enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening and caring for her farm with her late husband Curtis. In her later years she enjoyed traveling and entertaining family and friends with her husband Len. Her passion in life was the love and time she invested into her family and her relationship with God.
In addition to her husband Leonard, she is survived by her children Cindie Lauer of York, Lorie Luckenbaugh of Spring Grove, Daniel Aikins and wife Rena’ of Seven Valleys and Kristin Rice and husband William of Spring Grove; her step children Ed Johnson of Downingtown, Sandie Gerringer of Honey Brook and Leonard E. Johnson Jr. of Phoenixville and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the sister of Alice Jane Jackson, George Bircher and Charles Bircher. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Debra J. Bolen and her grandson Kyle Luckenbaugh.
A funeral service in celebration of her life will be held on Friday at 7:00 pm at Susquehanna Grace Community Church, 6694 Sunrise Ave., Wrightsville PA 17368 with pastors Rev. Lonnie Skiles and Rev. Larry Katz officiating. A viewing will be held on Friday from 5-7pm at the church. There will also be a graveside service on Saturday at 10:00 am at Philadelphia Memorial Park, 124 Phoenixville Pike, Frazer, PA 19355. A funeral cortege will form inside the entrance of the cemetery at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her honor may be made to Susquehanna Grace Community Church.
