Anna D. ‘ Ann’ DiMaio of Coatesville
Anna D. “Ann” DiMaio, 89, died Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the Brandywine Hospital.
Ann was born at the Coatesville Hospital to parents Luigi and Adalgisa DiPaolo DiVincenzo.
She was married to Peter A. DiMaio for 59 years at the time of his death on May 16, 2009.
Ann attended St. Cecilia Elementary School for 8 years and graduated from Scott High School, Class of 1946. She was an active member in the class reunion committee.
She was employed by the Coatesville Area School District for 30 years as a secretary in Terry Elementary School, Scott High School, the Superintendent’s Office and lastly, as secretary to the principal at Gordon Junior High School.
Ann was a life- longmember of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, where she was an active member serving as advisor to the CYO and as a religious education teacher. Later, for many years, she served as Director of Religious Education. She also served as Eucharistic Minister, an active member of the Congrega ( Sodality) serving as president for four years and was a church organist for many years. Ann loved her church.
She was also involved in many city programs, enjoyed ladies’ card club and St. Jude Novena group. Ann was a member of Junior Century Club and was a chairman of the JCC’s annual Charity Ball. She was an active member of the Auxiliary to the Brandywine Hospital, serving as president.
Ann is survived by her beloved sons, Mario P. of Philadelphia and Peter M. of Thorndale; a brother, Mario DiVincenzo; her sisterin- law, Barbara DiVincenzo ( who was like a sister); niece, Carol Rusinko; nephew, Mark DiVincenzo; and great nieces, Brittany and Lindsay Rusinko and Juliana DiVincenzo.
She was preceded in death by her nephew, Matthew DiVincenzo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 7 p. m., Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 80 S. 17th Ave., Coatesville where relatives and friends may call from 4: 30 to 6: 45 p. m.
Interment will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery, Coatesville.
