Art show features works of local artists

MALVERN >> St. Francis-inthe-Fields Episcopal Church will hold an Art Show and Sale featuring the work of more than 30 local artists this Friday, April 28 through Sunday, April 30. Among the artists are local middle and high school students. The parish will also host a performanc­e of Gabriel Fauré’s “Requiem in D minor,” one of the world’s most recognized choral works, on April 29. The concert and the Art Show and Sale will be held at the church located at 689 Sugartown Rd. in Malvern. Proceeds from art purchases will benefit charitable outreach in the parish’s community.

The music performanc­e is being added to this year’s Art Show in order to include all of the performing arts in the parish’s presentati­on of the artistic gifts of the Episcopal Church.

A Preview Reception for the Art Show and Sale will be held Friday, April 28 from 5-9 p.m. Attendees will be able to meet the artists, preview the juried artwork and enjoy wine and butlered hors d’oeuvres. Tickets for the Preview Reception are $32 per person.

On Saturday, the Arts Show continues when the St. Francis-in-the-Fields adult choir and members of other local choirs will perform Gabriel Fauré’s “Requiem in D minor,” one of the most recognized and popular Requiem Masses. The performanc­e will be held in the church sanctuary from 4-5 p.m. Following the concert, the Art Show and Sale continues from 5-7 p.m. and will include a wine and cheese reception. Tickets for both the concert and the Saturday Art Show and Sale are $22 per person.

Tickets for both the Friday Preview Reception, the Saturday concert and Art Show and Sale are $42 per person.

The Art Show and Sale will conclude on Sunday, April 30 with the gallery open from 11 a.m. through 2 p.m. Admission on Sunday is free.

Artist Fred Danziger, a native of Chester County, served as jurist for the Art Show and will exhibit his works. Danziger was educated at the Pennsylvan­ia Academy of the Fine Arts. During his career, he taught at both the Art Institute of Philadelph­ia and The Pennsylvan­ia Academy.
