Margaret A. Eisenhart of West Chester

-

Margaret A. Eisenhart, 89, entered into rest peacefully on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Neighborhood Hospice of West Chester. Margaret left this world on a beautiful spring day returning home to her Savior and beloved husband Roger A. Eisenhart, with whom she shared 45 years of marriage prior to his passing in 1996.

Born in the coal region of Pennsylvania on January 7, 1928 in the town of Connerton, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Joseph and Bridget L. Garvey Griffiths. Margaret was the 6th of 7 children.

Margaret lived in Coatesville for 52 years and raised her family there. She worked for Lukens Steel Federal Credit Union and then Citadel Federal Credit Union as a manager for over 20 years before retiring in 1986. Known to her coworkers as “Maggie”, she enjoyed her work with the public and finance.

The passion and love of her life, however, was family. She was a caring and involved mother, grandmother and great grandmother and certainly the life of the party. She loved her trips to the Delaware Park Casino, traveling with her family, and enjoyed following the Chicago Cubs with her son.

Margaret was a parishioner at Our Lady of the Rosary for many years and then later at St. Patrick’s Church in Malvern.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Karen A. Thurman and her husband Randy; her son, Gregory A. Eisenhart; five grandchildren, David Eisenhart, Michael Eisenhart, Kelly Thurman Luciano, Kaitlin Thurman Barry and Kyle Thurman; six great grandchildren, Noah Eisenhart, Miles Eisenhart, Trevor Eisenhart, Lillian Barry, Jack Barry and Isabel Luciano and by a dear friend and companion of 8 years, Walter Young.

She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Jacqueline Eisenhart; 3 brothers, William, Joseph and John Griffiths; and by 3 sisters, Bette Heine, Catherine McGrath and Regina Byrne.

An evening viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm, Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown.

A morning viewing will be held from 10:00 -10:45 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am, Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at St. Patrick Church, 104 Channing Avenue, Malvern.

Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Neighborhood Hospice of West Chester, 400 E. Marshall Street, West Chester, Pa 19380.
