A. Eugene ‘Gene’ Regener of New Holland, Pa.

A. Eugene “Gene” Regener, age 75 of Garden Spot Village, New Holland, PA, passed away at the University of Pennsylvan­ia Hospital on Wednesday, April 26, 2017. He was the loving husband of Dale K. Hagans Regener for 49 years on July 1st of last year.

He was born in Coatesvill­e, son of the late Arthur F. & Helen Marie Freeman Regener. He was a member of Westminste­r Presbyteri­an Church of Lancaster and in the past was a member of Sandy Hill Mennonite Church, where he was an Elder, Wagontown Chapel and Calvary Monument Bible Church. He graduated from Scott High School class of 1960 and received his MBA from Drexel University in 1971. In the past Gene worked as an accounting clerk for the Pennsylvan­ia Railroad, a systems analyst for Lukens Steel Co. for 36 years and retired from Buck Run Transport in 2006. He was a member of the Lancaster County Bird Club and the Garden Spot Train Club. He enjoyed driving the Jolly Trolley at Garden Spot Village and volunteere­d doing taxes through the United Way. Gene enjoyed bird watching, model railroadin­g, tropical fish, canoeing, camping, traveling, going to the beach and playing games - especially with his grandsons.

Surviving besides his wife are 2 children: Dawn M. wife of Troy Alderfer of Oley, PA, Scott E. husband of Beth Tangeman Regener of Mantorvill­e, MN, 4 grandsons: Mark & Justin Alderfer, Ben & Joel Regener, sister Helen L. wife of Thomas E. Hoffmeier of Gap.

A memorial service will take place at the Garden Spot Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, PA on Saturday, April 29th at 12 noon with Chaplain Chet Yoder officiatin­g. There will be a time to greet the family from 11 a.m. until time of service. Private interment will take place prior to the memorial service in the Hephzibah Baptist Cemetery. There will be a viewing time on Friday, April 28th at the Garden Spot Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers contributi­ons may be made to the Garden Spot Village Benevolent Fund, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, PA 17557.
