Max Hopper of West Chester

Max Hopper, 83, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2017, at Simpson Meadows in Downingtow­n, PA.

He was the husband of Joanne Tweed Hopper.

Born in Kinderhook, Illinois, he was the son of the late William T. and Famie Sackett Hopper.

In his senior year, Class of 1951 at West Pike High School, Kinderhook, IL, he made Honorable Mention All-State in Basketball in Illinois. Following graduation in 1953 from Hannibal LaGrange College, Hannibal, MO, he attended Midwestern University in Wichita Falls, TX from 1954-1956. Later he graduated from Cheyney University in 1975.

From 1958 to 1965, he served in the US Army Medical Corps in Korea, Germany, Valley Forge, and at Walter Reed Hospital.

He was employed as a Supervisor at Deveraux Foundation.

He was a life member of Hull Masonic Lodge No. 910 AF & AM of Illinois. He was a Baptist by faith. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Barbara H. Driscoll of Austin, TX, and Susan E. Coblentz of Downingtow­n; grandchild­ren, Sarah and Rachel Coblentz of Downingtow­n; siblings, Erma Mae Rueb of Barry, IL, Melvin G. Hopper of Quincy, IL, and Ilah Risse of Hull, IL.

Funeral Service will be private and at the convenienc­e of the family.
