It’s the majority protesting – not the ‘far left’

-

Val DiGiorgio’s GOP perspective in the April 20 DLN makes clear the difference between a typical partisan politician and today’s average intelligent voter. Today’s average voter (a very clear majority by any poll) is not only disapproving of where Trump is taking us. An unusual number of us, most of whom have raised our voice little outside the ballot box in our entire lives, are becoming more and more upset – passionate even – and looking for ways to impact the damage being done. Now.

The Russians clearly changed the campaign process (and probably the outcome), the cabinet is drawn from and represents the interests of big money and big business, and attempts to damage the health care of tens of millions, as well as the global environment thereby damaging all of us and our children and grandchildren, are in the works.

But growing numbers of us are following this and thinking, deeply, and will increasingly find ways to not only be heard but to have an impact. Pause and think about that, GOP congressmen. When was the last time you were certain you saw – or heard – or were aware that this president was thinking deeply about anything? Try to picture Donald Trump pausing and reflecting (ha!) and intelligently explaining anything with any complexity.

America is in a frightening place. And it’s not because someone was given a mess. Leaders of both parties have often commented on how complex and messy governing is. Today is different.

You can bet the majority, feeling a kind of passion tinged with well-justified fear, will look for any guides (“Indivisible” or otherwise) that may accelerate and multiply our impact to resist the terrible changes being pushed. — John Conrad, West Chester
