Marina Nadwodny doubled in Erin Bevec to give Great Valley a 3-2 win in eight innings over Kennett in a Ches-Mont League American Division softball contest Friday.

Marina Nadwodny doubled in Erin Bevec to give Great Valley a 3-2 win in eight innings over Kennett in a Ches-Mont League American Division softball contest Friday.

Bevec reached on an error and stole second, before Nadwodny’s one-out double. Nadwodny finished 2-for-4 and drove in all three runs.

Morgan Orlowski surrendere­d five hits in eight innings with three walks and 12 strikeouts.

The Patriots evened their record at 9-9.

DOWNINGTOW­N EAST 11, OCTORARA 0 >> Steph Jacoby scored four times, while Amelia Mazza, Jacoby and Ava Dudkiewicz had two hits apiece as the Cougars (7-1, 8-11) rolled to the ChesMont win. Claire Kelly and Grace McKelvey combined for the shutout.

DISTRICT 1 DOUBLES >> Nikyil Gangoli and Sam Kesti of Great Valley reached the semifinals at Healthplex.

Baseball

DOWNINGTOW­N EAST 1, OCTORARA 0, 8 INNINGS >> Kelsey Launi drove in the winning run in the eighth inning as the Cougars (12-6) posted the Ches-Mont victory. Will Peiffer tossed a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts over seven innings. Chase Fike struck out a pair in one inning to gain the victory. Austin Taylor had three hits for East, while Danny Ami- con collected two. UNIONVILLE 2, SUN VALLEY 0>> Joe Love pitched a onehit shutout for the Indians in the Ches-Mont American victory. Brendan Barrett was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Theron Schilling added an RBI single.

Nick Bateman recorded the lone hit for the Vanguards.

Boys Lacrosse

DOWNINGTOW­N EAST BISHOP SHANAHAN 3 >> Jack Mulcahy had three goals and three assists as the Cougars (9-2) posted the Ches-Mont victory.

Chase Heisman and Gabe Goforth scored for the Eagles.

Girls Lacrosse

KENNETT 10, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 7 >> Kelsey Mentzer and Jennifer Schoean scored three times each as the Blue Demons (7-11) registered the nonleague victory. Ashley Mastronard­o tallied three assists

Adult Baseball

ENGLUND’S APPAREL 5, EXTON BANDITS 1 >> Brad Canan and Matt Cowell combined on a three-hitter as the defending champions opened with the West Chester Baseball League victory. Sean Skahan had two hits for Englund’s. Canan allowed one hit in five innings, striking out five. Matt Cowell tossed two shutout innings.

Adult Softball

TRI-COUNTY SENIOR MODIFIED >> Al Trego tripled and homered as Allstate downed Coffee Cup, 10-8. Rick Rupe was 2-for-3 with a triple and Norm Smith earned the win in relief. Jonathan Fairoaks, Chris Barr and Phil Giunta had two hits apiece for Coffee Cup.

BRANDYWINE VALLEY SENIOR SLOWPITCH >> Avante Spa scored four times in the ninth inning to rally for a 10-9 victory over Rock and Rubart on Thursday. Sonny Luminello had four hits and scored the winning run. The loss was the first of the season for division-leading Rock and Rubart.
