Meehan recognizes local students with Scholar-Athlete award
GREAT VALLEY>> U.S. Rep. Patrick Meehan, R-7, has honored high school juniors from across Chester County with the Congressional Scholar-Athlete Award, given to students who exemplify the selfless dedication to school and sports that define the leaders of tomorrow.
Some 100 students from more than 50 high schools across the 7th District were honored with their families at a reception tonight at Garnet Valley High School with Meehan and keynote speaker Mike Costanzo, a former Philadelphia Phillie and the head baseball coach at Archbishop Carrol High School in Radnor.
“It is an honor to recognize all of these students, each of whom has demonstrated excellence both in the classroom and on the playing field,” said Meehan. “Teamwork, commitment, dedication and diligence – those are the traits that will serve each of these young people well as they prepare for college and beyond. Their teachers and school administrators have recognized them as standouts among their peers, and they all deserve to be proud of their achievement. I congratulate the award winners, their parents and families and I wish all of them the best for the future.”
