Police arrest 2 for DUI
WEST WHITELAND >> Police arrested an alleged intoxicated driver who reportedly hit a parked car.
West Whiteland police said that Cotha Patterson, 66, of West Chester, was charged with DUI, driving under suspension and charges related to leaving the scene of an accident on May 11. The charges were filed after a report of a hit and run crash in the parking lot of the Wendy’s restaurant located in the 100 block of East Swedesford Road. An officer located the alleged striking vehicle in the parking lot of Hollow Run apartments off Pottstown Pike. No injuries were reported.
The officer observed Patterson reportedly sleeping or passed out in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. An ambulance was called and Patterson was transported to Chester County Hospital because of his condition, according to the police report. He was released on a criminal summons.
DUI
West Whiteland police said that Kristin Dudley, 29, of Coatesville, was charged with DUI and traffic offenses on May 5 after a patrol officer observed a vehicle driving in the area of Bartlett Avenue and Pottstown Pike without
the headlights on. The officer initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver identified as Dudley. She was arrested after reportedly failing field sobriety tests. She was released on a criminal summons, according to the report.
West Whiteland police said that Laurence Roseman, 61, of West Chester, was arrested for DUI and possession of suspected drug paraphernalia on May 16. A patrol officer said they observed Roseman make an illegal U-turn on Pottstown Pike. The officer initiated a traffic stop and made contact with Roseman who was arrested after reportedly failing field sobriety tests.
Theft and drugs
West Whiteland police said that Devin Fox, 32, of Bethlehem, was charged with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia after an officer responded to the Ship Inn in the 600 block of East Lincoln Highway for a report of a stolen vehicle. The victim told police he had lent his car to someone
at the Inn, identified as Fox, who was supposed to return within 30 minutes, but failed to return with the vehicle. Fox was later found by West Goshen Township Police inside of the 2016 Toyota Corolla at a Wawa store in their jurisdiction, according to West Whiteland police. Fox was taken into custody and suspected controlled substance and drug paraphernalia were recovered during his arrest, according to the report.
Retail theft
West Whiteland police said that Rachel Ellis, 28, of Downingtown, was charged with retail theft and receiving stolen property on May 4 after officers responded to the Boscov’s store for an alleged $491 theft. Ellis was released on a criminal summons, according to the report.
West Whiteland police said that Christopher Brown, 19, of Downingtown, was charged with retail theft on May 4 after officers responded to the Kohl’s store for an alleged $50 theft. Brown was issued a nontraffic citation and released, according to the report.
West Whiteland police said that Kristen Riley, 47, of Downingtown, was charged with theft by unlawful taking and receiving
stolen property on May 8 after an officer was dispatched to a business in the 100 block of West Lincoln Highway for an alleged $175 theft. The business reported that Riley, who was an employee, allegedly stole property from the business. Riley was released on a criminal summons, according to the report.
West Whiteland police said that Liliana Hernandez-Lopez, 36, of Chester Springs, was charged with retail theft and receiving stolen Property on May 9 after officers responded to the Boscov’s store for an alleged $661 theft. Hernandez-Lopez was released on a criminal summons, according to the report.
Drug charges
West Whiteland police said that Matthew Sharpler, 27, of West Chester, was charged with possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia on May 8 after officers responded to a residence in the 1400 block of Hunter Lane to serve a probation arrest warrant for Sharpler. An officer said they allegedly located narcotics and paraphernalia on Sharpler during his arrest. Sharpler was transported to Chester County Prison where he was held on the probation warrant.
