James (Jim) William Hindorff of West Chester

Jim passed away on May 20, 2017. He was born December 31, 1930 to the late James and Constance (Chambers) Hindorff in Lander, Wyoming. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Cody, Wyoming where Jim spent his youth. He graduated from Cody High School in 1948.

Jim then went on to serve 4 years in the Navy where he became helmsman on the aircraft carrier, Siboney. He then attended SMU and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineerin­g. Jim later received an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.

Jim worked as an engineer at Westinghou­se for most of his career. He was active in the Hershey’s Mill community as President of the Quaker Village, a member of the landscape committee and helped to organize concerts in the park.

Jim enjoyed spending time with his grandchild­ren, playing golf, jazz music and traveling. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity and sense of humor. Jim is survived by his wife Betty Hindorff, sons; William Hindorff, James Hindorff (Tracey), Van Hindorff (Barbara), daughter, Susan Ganbari, grandchild­ren; Phoebe MertenHind­orff, Jamey Hindorff, Aaron Hindorff, Cory Hindorff, Logan Hindorff, Joshua Hindorff, Ananda Ganbari, and Kian Ganbari.

The burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons may be sent to The American Cancer Society or Neighborho­od Hospice, 400 East Marshall Street, West Chester, PA 19380.
