DINNIMAN HONORS LOCAL EAGLE SCOUTS

10 Scouts from Troop 6 in West Chester commended on achieving the rank of Eagle

WEST CHESTER>> State Sen. Andy Dinniman recently recognized 10 members of the Boy Scouts of America’s Troop 6 of West Chester on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.

“This an incredible achievemen­t – not only for each of these Scouts individual­ly but also for Troop 6 as a whole to have 10 young men attain scouting’s highest rank at one time,” said Dinniman, D-19, of West Whiteland. “I must also recognize their parents, families, scoutmaste­r and scout leaders, and all those who supported them on this journey.”

Dinniman congratula­ted the Scouts and thanked them for their service to the community during their recent visit to his West Chester district office. He also presented each of the Scouts with a special Senate citation in honor of their accomplish­ments.

The Eagle Scouts recognized were as follows:

• Daniel Kamowski

• Emil Mossblad

• Cameron Cox

• Ben Cheng

• Senthil Vel

• Isaac Dickinson

• Gavin Linn

• Jonathan Roth

• Liam Congleton Dating back to 1910, Troop 6 is one of the oldest Boy Scout Troops in the nation. Originally formed as Troop 1, it was renamed Troop 6 in 1918, when the Chester County Council was chartered.

The first Troop 6 Scout to achieve the rank of Eagle was John D. Jacob in 1920. Since then, more than 200 young men have attained the highest rank in scouting.

Since the 1920s, Troop 6 has been chartered by the West Chester Society of Friends, which supplies the troop with facilities, including use of the West Chester Friends School gymnasium, meeting rooms, and storage space for its camping equipment.
