Joachim ‘Jim’ Herbert Nussbaumer of West Chester

Joachim “Jim” Herbert Nussbaumer, 77, resident of West Chester, PA died May 20th, 2017 at Chester County Hospital.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert A. Nussbaumer and Dorothea M. Nussbaumer, as well as his brother Markus Nussbaumer.

Jim is survived in life by his most beloved wife, Jeanne Nussbaumer, his brother, Winnifried J. Nussbaumer (wife, Joanne), his sister, Dorothea M. Iverson (husband, Christophe­r), and his 9 loving children and stepchildr­en, Christophe­r Nussbaumer (Renee); Markus Nussbaumer (Paula); Christina Crawford (Scott); Terrence Nussbaumer; David Nussbaumer (Meredith); Kevin Scribner; Kyle Scribner (Kelly); Kelly Davis (Stephen); and Keith Scribner (Nicole). Jim is also survived in life by his beloved 20 grandchild­ren.

Jim was born April 4th, 1940 in Backnang, Germany. He later moved to Argentina and then to the Philadelph­ia area.

He served in the US Air Force and worked as an Air Force mechanic. He carried the rank of Airman 3rd Class.

Jim attended The University of Penn for business.

Jim was co-owner of Nussex Bakery Imports, Nussex Farms & Bakery, and The Wescho Co., Inc.

He was a committee man for the Republican Party of West Goshen Township, and an active member of Advent Lutheran Church where he was a member of Church Council, the Organ Committee and as the bread maker for Communion bread.

Jim loved to cook and bake, particular­ly on holidays with his family. He found great joy in making people happy through his delicious dishes. Jim also loved airplanes and had his private pilot’s license.

Above all, he was a family man and cherished every moment he had with his family. He was a warm and loving husband, son, father, brother, uncle, grandfathe­r, and friend to so many.

Jim made a positive impression on everyone he met and is remembered for his smile. This impression will remain in the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be missed by many.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Friday, June 16, 2017 from 10:00 –11:00 am at the Advent Lutheran Church, 1601 Green Lane, West Chester, PA 19382; followed by his Memorial Service at 11:00am.

Interment will follow the service in the Memorial Gardens at the church.

In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons may be made to Advent Lutheran Church, “Organ Fund”, at the above address.
