Downingtow­n beats Kennett in opener

Mike Mollenhaue­r had three RBIs as Downingtow­n Beat Kennett, 7-4, in the opening game of the Chester County American Legion League season Wednesday night.

Nick Campana had a double and an RBI and JJ Freeman had a triple and an RBI in the win.

West Chester Baseball League

Englunds stayed unbeaten at 5-0 when a 7th inning rally plated Scott Stevens on a wild pitch following several lead changes at Flagg Field. Englunds jumped out to a 3-0 lead after Jason Stackhouse drove in the first two of his three runs on the night, only to see that lead disappear when Vince Sposato cleared the bases with a three-run double in the 5th.

John Durso gave up five runs in three innings of work for the Prowlers and struck out four to earn his third win of the season. Ryan Lucas pitched two innings with three strikeouts in relief, and Owen Hovick tallied two shutout innings to close the game.

Joe Zgleszewsk­i blasted a homer in the third inning and drove in four RBIs on the night to lead PJ’s offense. Brandon O’Brien and Bill Fallis each had two hits for the Prowlers.

Adult Softball

Road Scholar defeated Landmark Auto behind the five-hit pitching performanc­e by Les Garrison. Ruben Torres and Mike Long paced the hitting for Road Scholar with three hits each. In another game Wednesday, Jitters Sports Bar beat Coatesvill­e Moose, 5-4.
