Wheelchairs dontated to a good cause

- — Submitted by Julie Kline

Senior Physical Therapy Services at Arbour Square of Harleysville recently donated their used wheelchairs to the Joni and Friends Wheels for the World program. This international program is dedicated to providing a gift of a wheelchair with the hope of the gospel to help people with disabilities around the world. The Joni and Friends Souderton ministry offices first opened in 2007 at 121 E. Chestnut St.

The Wheels for the World program collects used, manual wheelchairs from senior facilities that no longer have any use for them. From there, they are transported to correctional facilities across the country where prison inmates refurbish them until they work like new. Then the wheelchairs are shipped to countries all over the world where Joni and Friends volunteers help fit each wheelchair to the recipient and provide training for use and maintenance on the new wheelchair.
