Virginia E. Bennett, formerly of Broomall and Downingtown

Virginia E. Bennett, age 98, of Carefree, AZ, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2017. She was born on February 2, 1919 in Brockton, Massachusetts to Joseph and Elizabeth Ceruti. She was raised in Stoughton, Massachusetts and lived and worked there until World War II. Like her brothers who were in the military, she wanted to serve her country and moved to Washington, D.C. in 1942 where she secured a job at the Pentagon. It was there that she met the love of her life, John P. Bennett (Jack) who worked in the U.S. Congress. They married in 1946 and moved to Detroit, Michigan where Jack worked in Marketing Research. Their children, Rosemary and John were born there and she began her long career as a homemaker.

In 1959, Jack accepted a promotion and they relocated to Broomall, PA where they continued to live until Jack passed away in 1998. They had been married for nearly 53 years and enjoyed many years of retirement spent traveling and doting on their grandchildren. Virginia’s life was one of complete dedication and devotion to her family. She is survived by her two children Rosemary (David) Fazio of Napa, California and John (Debra) of Scottsdale, Arizona, three grandchildren whom she loved so dearly - John (Amy), Jennifer (Tom) Luft and Mark, four great-grandchildren, one brother John Ceruti and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers Joseph and Everett Ceruti and sister Genevieve Wallace.

Her long and loving life will be celebrated on Monday, June 26th at 11:00 AM with a Mass Of Christian Burial at Saint Pius X Church, 220 Lawrence Road, Broomall. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00- 11:00 AM.

Memorial gifts may be sent in her name to the Marine Corp-Law Enforcement Foundation at 20865 N 90th Place, Scottsdale, AZ 85255.

Interment at Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery next to her beloved Jack.
